Banners

This page is an archive of site header images I’ve used in the past and into the present, just in case you want to see what they looked like, or revisit your favorite ones. Note that I only started using them in version 3 of the site.

Version 3.00: First Banner
Version 3.00: First Banner
I used this banner during the launch of my new 3.0 site layout and design after switching to WordPress. However, the darn banner only lasted a week before I changed it, due to the confusion it presented with its button-like qualities. To stress my point further, the images on the banner are not clickable, dammit!

JGirlChaser Returns
JGirlChaser Returns
This was my April Fool’s joke banner, which corresponded with this entry. I wasn’t really going to bring back this obnoxiously sexist character, but you have to admit, he’s good at stirring up trouble. The Japanese text at the bottom says, “Honto ni gomen nasai,” which means, “I’m so sorry about this.”

TWIN TAIL Na Onna No Ko
TWIN TAIL Na Onna No Ko
This image is from the cute front cover of the rorikon manga with the same name. Yes, it’s THAT kind of manga, but I thought the character design was cute, plus I love the color of her hair, which matches my site design.

Aikawa Yuzuki (Unreleased)
Aikawa Yuzuki (Unreleased)
An unreleased banner that I never used. It was the first of a series of rotating banners I planned to use after the failure of the first banner, but due to time constraints laziness, I never got around to making more. There were originally going to be banners dedicated to each topic of my site.

Version 3.12: Cloudscape
Version 3.12: Cloudscape
This image is from a cloudscape photo that I shot with my crappy digital camera and enhanced with Photoshop. Cloudscapes are one of my favorite photographic elements (other than female nudity ^_~). I launched my site’s redesign (version 3.12) with this banner.

Navi Copland OS Enterprise (Unreleased)
Navi Copland OS Enterprise (Unreleased)
This banner was going to be the header for a site template that was going to pay homage to the Copland OS Enterprise desktop of Lain’s Navi in the anime, SERIAL EXPERIMENTS LAIN. It never did get designed, but you never know what I might do in the future.

Version 4.00: Cloudscape Sunrise – HAYATE No Gotoku
Cloudscape Sunrise - HAYATE No Gotoku
This was the first banner in the Cloudscape Sunrise series of randomized, rotating banners for the new 4.00 site redesign. For the background, I took a photo at work at 06:00 in the morning during the autumn of 2008. This background is reused in the entire series. HAYATE No Gotoku is an awesome anime that was based off the equally hilarious manga.

Cloudscape Sunrise: Nogizaka Haruka No Himitsu
Cloudscape Sunrise: Nogizaka Haruka No Himitsu
Second banner in the Cloudscape Sunrise banner series. Nogizaka Haruka No Himitsu is yet another anime that I watched that ended up in my favorites list.

Cloudscape Sunrise: ROSARIO To VAMPIRE
Cloudscape Sunrise: ROSARIO To VAMPIRE
Third banner in the Cloudscape Sunrise banner series. ROSARIO To VAMPIRE is a hilarious, action anime that features a hot monster girl harem. Different, right?

Cloudscape Sunrise: Hamasaki Ayumi
Cloudscape Sunrise: Hamasaki Ayumi
Fourth banner in the Cloudscape Sunrise banner series. Hamasaki Ayumi is a famous pop vocalist in the Japanese music industry. She is to Japanese teen girls as Britney Spears is to American teen girls, except that she writes and composes her own songs, has acute fashion sense, releases new music more frequently than other artists out there, is hardworking, and is generally more talented than Ms. Spears. Her music is also more catchy. She recently did the ending theme song to the abysmal DragonBall Evolution movie.

Cloudscape Sunrise: Koda Kumi
Cloudscape Sunrise: Koda Kumi
Fifth banner in the Cloudscape Sunrise banner series. Koda Kumi is another vocalist in the Japanese music scene, and her music roots are more pop/urban/R&B than most artists. I finally decided to break the mold of aligning the characters on the right side with this one. This is actually the finished picture featured on the edge of the CD obi for all the 12 singles she released a few years back. When you stand each CD up side by side from 1 to 12, you would get this sexy image. A bit more risque for a banner, but my site isn’t exactly safe for work anyway.

Cloudscape Sunrise: PRINNY
Cloudscape Sunrise: PRINNY
Sixth banner in the Cloudscape Sunrise banner series. This one broke all the alignment rules I had set in the previous banners, because I wanted to have a sense of activity. Well, it worked, because it conveys exactly what kind of game PRINNY ~ORE Ga Shujinkou De IIn SU Ka?~ is – an action platformer for the PSP that is unrelenting in its difficulty! Based on the characters from DISGAEA (and featuring Asagi from past Nippon Ichi titles), this banner is fun and conveys the personalities of Prinnies (especially in the face of Etna’s wrath).
