Hello from the U.S.!

The Rant

Well, I had a blast of a time yesterday. Yesterday was the beginning of my vacation from work, finally! I slept most of the way down to Winnipeg on the bus the night before, and I even edited some of my own anime series, Tawainai Seimei™, on my laptop. I arrived at 7:00 AM yesterday morning, and I had to wait for a half hour before Hidetoshi and his girlfriend, Ruth, came to pick me up. We walked through Portage Place to drop off the luggage, then to the Passport Office to pick up Hidetoshi’s passport. Then, we went back to Portage Place and did some shopping. I picked up Love Hina Best Album and a Morning Musume VCD at Oriental Gifts. Sweet! I guess my Chinese was good enough because I got complimented by the owner there. After that, I navigated Ruth to Chinatown and we had dim sum at Grand Garden. Then, we picked up some expendables downstairs at Oriental Market. I picked up Pang Ling’s newest album, and then I navigated us to the FutureShop behind Polo Park. It was funny, because when we got there, it was closed down and a sign said that they moved. However, when we decided to turn in to see where they moved, we noticed that they only moved to the side! We went in and I bought Devil May Cry, Grandia II, and Super Mario World Advance. Then, we left Winnipeg and arrived at US Customs, where they took our ID and proceeded to ask us weird questions. I was afraid that they were going to open up our luggage, but they didn’t. Anyway, we arrived in a small town called Bagley, and we stopped at a Conico gas station. Everything was the same, yet different! They had different kinds of chips and snacks, and I was asking Ruth all kinds of questions. They didn’t have a Shell, Domo, or Co-op, but they had a Conoco, Texaco, and so on. Ever strange! Anyway, we arrived at Bemidji at around 8:00 PM, and we toured the city, quick and dirty. It’s pretty cool. I got a quick lesson in Bemidji and the States. It’s great to learn more about your next-door neighbour. Anyway, I already had my first turn at fast food, ATM banking, and grocery shopping. They had different brand names and more flavours of the existing chip and drink brand names. Crazy, huh? Well, that’s it for now. Back to Jade Cocoon 2.

The J-Pop

Let’s Gekiga In! Gekiganger 3 is the robot anime in Martian Successor Nadesico. It’s so overdramatic, and the Nadesico characters love the show to death that it becomes more of a sight gag than anything else. Anime within an anime? That’s anime for you! Anyway, this song is pretty catchy. A little TOO catchy. ^_^

The one with all the Lesson Reviews.

I’ve been trying to figure out what to do with this blog ever since I started using Hummingbird last fall. So, I decided to try an idea of mine called Lesson Reviews. Essentially, it’s more of a “what I learned from X anime” than a review, but the thing is, there will be good and […]
