I finally watched the last two episodes of GRENADIER ~Hohoemi No Senshi~. What a great series! Bouncy boobs galore! The final battle was highly reminiscent of the gun-kata battle at the end of Equilibrium. Anybody ever watch that movie? Christian Bale is an amazing actor. I can’t wait to see him in the new Batman movie.
Anyway, I digress. They did a good job with GRENADIER. Not too long, not too short.
Chinese New Year today. Time to go eat with the folks.
I hate the IT business.
) I hate the IT business.
The IT business is not bad… Its up to you on how you make your job. Stop putting up with people’s crap and you’ll enjoy it a lot better .. IT people are generally afraid to say ‘no’. For example:
Typical IT Conversation:
User: “Hey Mr. IT man – Can you teach a course on this software package that you have never seen before … tommorrow? While you are at it, could you setup the sound system in the board room for us?
IT Guy: I am not really sure on that stuff.
User: Nonsense – its electronic therefore you must be a master”
IT Guy: (After trying to stall) Yeah – okay.
Correct IT Conversation: “Hey Mr. IT man – Can you teach a course on this software package that you have never seen before … tommorrow? While you are at it, could you setup the sound system in the board room for us?
IT Guy: #1 Submit a written or electronic request for the software package. I will require 30 days notice to prepare and depending on workload, some overtime. I will have management contact you to confirm this once I receive a written request. As for the sound system, I am not certified, nor trained in the sound system – you will have to find another person.
User: Nonsense – its electronic therefore you must be a master
IT Guy: Audio is no more my area than it is your area. You can either drop the issue, and allow me to recommend someone that can do it, or you can push this issue and I can suggest that you set it up yourself.
=)
Yeah, as much as I’d like to lose my job by being a mouthy little effer, I need the money. I would rather do that AFTER I’ve confirmed that I start at my new job on Monday. ^_^
And actually, I’m pretty good at being obnoxiously nice to the clients. They seem to hate that more than a rude tech. That way, if they’re not getting what they want, they also can’t complain about mouthy little techies.
